Training for the Lion (Lion Training)
1Peter 5:8,9

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

The Word of the Lord to us, is vigilance!  Because of this "malignant enemy," the devil, we must be watchful and prayerful at all times.  We also must maintain our area of responsibility, not using human energy, but the energy that the Holy Spirit brings to us.  When we use His energy, we are not subject to the kind of exhaustion that debilitates us and causes ineffectiveness or burn-out.

The scripture tells us how to deal with devilish, devouring and lion-like attacks.  Verse nine says, "Resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world."  We resist the devil by standing against him using faith and a good conscience.  As we stand in the Faith of the Lord Jesus, we are able to withstand his vicious attempts against us and our families.

We are like a dam that stands unmoved by the flowing of the rivers' mighty force against it.  We interrupt the devils plans and progress by standing our ground!  We must always hold our position, knowing that we are the called of God.  Although we have the Life of Christ Jesus resident in us, we also have the responsibility of walking circumspectly in the present world, proving the Lord's Victory.

We always experience suffering while resisting.  This suffering has joy set before it.  We endure because the joy of the Lord is our strength.  Those who do not know Jesus, experience the brutality and finality of suffering.  We who are in Christ Jesus have hope during our difficult times.  Christ Jesus is the hope that the Lord will be for us at the Last Day!

His grace is sufficient to carry you through whatever difficulties you may encounter in this world.

Oh! The lion's fangs have been removed!  Jesus disarmed principalities and powers on His cross!
